On a bright and sharp winter’s day, our Winter Social event on 20 December was completely sold out.
The Committee running the event had done a first class job with the food, ensuring there was plenty of food available for all, carefully labelled between Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian and Gluten free. The bar was open in the HDMC and members of the u3a were able to take full advantage. There was also a small table to one side with a limited supply of prosecco and beer for those wanting just a small glass of something stimulating. There was an abundant supply of soft drinks and teas and coffees for those seeking a softer solution.

There was entertainment with our Play Reading Group reading Cinderalfred (Cinder Alfred as opposed to Cinder Ella) by C R Cook which retells the story of Cinderella, but with a number of gender changes to the roles. Even so, the casting was ‘gender neutral’ which served to keep the audience very much on their toes!

With the Harrow Room at the Harrow District Masonic Centre packed to capacity, we were all able to appreciate the play-reading and the music thanks to the technical team’s hard work adapting their equipment for the 5 microphones and the Christmas music. Well done Peter and John!
Now, 2024 is beckoning us to come forward and very soon we will be enjoying another Leap Year.
