On Tuesday 05 March 2024 our photography group continued with a number of interesting items.
We started with technically difficult subjects like waterfalls – a still image cannot really render moving water, but we learned a number of tricks that can help us give the required illusion. There was also talk of lenses and their effects on the photographs, including what works best when on a holiday.
We then had a quick demonstration of the improvement that an on-line library can bring to an indifferent photograph once the tools available have been mastered.
There was discussion on the type of camera that proves most useful in different situations, and we had the opportunity to handle some rare items including a Russian copy of a Leica Vintage 35mm film camera with built in rangefinder.
Lastly we were treated to a portrait of each member present which was taken on a digital camera, and then printed directly from the memory chip using a dye-sublimation process that looked just like a professionally printed photograph.
Our next session will be on 02 April 2024 at 2pm.
