On Wednesday 06 March 2024, our group of Creative Writers were issued a challenge – to write a short peace using a Science Fiction Theme, or a Magical Realism Theme, or a continuation of our theme on Conflict.

Always up for a challenge, we heard ten amazing short stories, varying from a dolphin with a human brain serving in the Special Forces, to a ghost on the Metropolitan Line of London Underground, to magical events in a bar with a famous star, and the strange decisions that could be required when on a long journey through space.

We also had an incomplete train journey in South Yorkshire, and adventure with Priest Holes following the English Civil War.

After one side of a conversation between Mary and Joseph, we were treated to a hospital visit in the year 2124 when there were no queues, no treatment delays and no people working in the hospital – only robots.

Our next meeting is on 20 March 2024 at 10:00am, when the topic will be a new interpretation of Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken”.
