Things are quite busy in MOTO (Members On Their Own) Group this summer. Let’s hope that we get some nice weather as well. We are always on the look out for modestly priced tickets, particularly for matinees and concerts. We welcome any suggestions for events and opportunities to get together at quieter times.
At the top of this item, a party of 6 of us had supper and attended Vue Cinema Harrow on Sunday 26th May for a broadcast from Covent Garden of the Royal Ballet’s “The Winter’s Tale. There was commentary and discussion between the acts with Darcey Bussel which was very helpful for following the story-line and for seeing how much work goes into producing a ballet on this scale.
On Sunday 9th June Vivienne Spiteri treated 12 of us to tea and home baked cakes at her home. Some of the extra cakes found their way to a couple of other groups in the following week at the Masonic centre which was much appreciated by all.
On Sunday 23rd June a group went to see the Stephen Sondheim musical “Sunday in the Park with George” at Wheatsheaf Hall. It was presented by the excellent SEDOS amateur group who we saw last year doing “Titanic, the musical” at the Bridewell Theatre.
On the afternoon of Sunday 21st July we are hoping to see another NT Live at Vue Cinema Harrow. This time it’s the Noel Coward provocative comedy “Present Laughter” starring Andrew Scott.
On Sunday 4th August one of our members, Joella Leaf is hosting another get together with tea at her home.
On 22nd September we will be at Harrow Arts Centre for a cabaret show called A Touch of Stardust starring Tony Jacobs. All we need now is for the weather to oblige!
