A party of 16 Members visited the Clink Restaurant in His Majesty’s Prison Brixton for lunch – and not for any other reason! – on Wednesday 20 November 2024. The party was led by our Vice Chair Louise.
Security was a key feature on this visit, and as no cameras are allowed in the prison – even for restaurant visitors – we have had to resort to a photo created using artificial intelligence (see above). The purpose of the restaurant is to provide a typical superior workplace environment for the inmates to learn about catering and hospitality, and then put that learning into practice by serving paying clients in a typical classic restaurant environment. The restaurant is backed by The Clink Charity (Registered Charity Number 1134581) and the standards of food, presentation and service are very high.
Visiting a prison is not a straightforward task and members had to comply with a long list of requirements. If you are interested to know about the conditions, they are spelled out here.
There was an interesting and tasty menu available to our members as shown below. The bill included a modest donation to support the work of the charity.
